[WIKISLAMKITSCH #2 - Rainbow Crescents Forever] Site-specific installation. Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo / CAAC, Seville, Spain, 2008.

Wikislamkitsch #2 Rainbow Crescents Forever based on the Rainbow flag and the crescent moon & star, as a completely deferent and contradicted icons referring to two deferent cultures (the islamic and western culture). -The Rainbow: as a highly kitschified icon in the western contexts representing lots of meanings and values of the western culture and life style, like diversity, peace, liberty and it is always a reference for the LGBT. -The Crescent Moon & Star: The two signs together or the crescent only is often regarded as a symbol of Islam. it is internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam and it is featured on the flags of several Muslim countries, the project is trying to investigate the kitschy and the iconic dimensions of the two symbols, using the expected contradicted symbolic and cultural meaning and reference of the two icons. the installation based on a 50 X 70 cm designed poster in a limited edition of 1500 copies. creating a multicolored atmosphere in single architectural/historical space in the museum of CAAC in Seville (which was a ceramic factory in the past before being a museum for contemporary art) and it is an reinterpretation of the traditional islamic ceramic style of decoration in Andalusia.
